Schools Outside the U.S. AP Exam Fee Assistance

Learn more about the AP Exam fee structure and what assistance is available for the 2026 AP Exams.

Payments are due to College Board by June 15. Payments must be postmarked by this date to be considered on time. Schools determine how and when to collect and track exam payment.

Funding for Schools Outside the U.S. for May 2026 AP Exams

College Board provides a fee reduction of $37 per AP Exam for qualifying low-income students in schools outside the U.S. Both American citizen and non-American citizen students are eligible for the fee reduction.

The fee reduction is available for any student whose annual family income doesn’t exceed 185% of the poverty level as set by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service. For full eligibility criteria, visit AP Exam Fee Reductions.

Schools are expected to forgo their $9 rebate for these students.

Note: It remains a school-level decision whether to keep or forgo the $9 per exam school rebate from standard-fee students. For more information on rebate policy and procedures, please see State AP Exam Fee Assistance.

Steps for AP Coordinators

Before the Exams

  • Student eligibility for fee reductions should be determined by your school’s AP coordinator. To do so, follow these steps:
    • On the AP Exam Fee Reductions page, navigate to the USDA Food and Nutrition Service Income Eligibility Guidelines table. Refer to the column “Annual Family Income for 48 Contiguous States, Washington, D.C., Guam, and U.S. Territories.”
    • Convert American dollars into your country's currency. If the student’s annual family income is less than the amount listed in the relevant row, that student qualifies for an AP Exam fee reduction.
    • Collect income documentation from the student’s family for verification.
    • College Board doesn’t require documentation from the AP coordinator to claim a fee reduction. However, College Board may audit fee reductions claimed at any time. AP coordinators should be able to produce documentation verifying fee reduction claims upon request.
  • For your invoice to accurately reflect any fee reductions, the AP coordinator must indicate the fee reduction status for each eligible student in AP Registration and Ordering.
    • For each student who is eligible for the College Board fee reduction, check the Reduced Fee box next to their name in the student roster.
    • For students who aren't eligible for the fee reduction, no action is needed.
  • Fee reduction status is indicated only once per student, not for each exam.
  • If possible, indicate each student’s status by the time you submit your exam order. This ensures you have time to plan for and collect the appropriate exam fees.
    • However, if you need more time to verify this information, the deadline to indicate students' fee reduction status in AP Registration and Ordering is April 30, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET).

After the Exams

  • Your invoice will be automatically generated and emailed to you after late-testing administration ends. At that point, you can also access and print your invoice through AP Registration and Ordering.
  • June 15, 2026, is the postmark deadline for payment due to College Board.
