Arkansas AP Exam Fee Assistance

Arkansas’s state funding details for the May 2026 AP Exams have not yet been finalized. The information below reflects the funding details for the May 2025 AP Exams for reference. Please check back for updates.

Payments are due to College Board by June 15. Payments must be postmarked by this date to be considered on time. Schools determine how and when to collect and track exam payment.

Funding for Arkansas Schools for May 2025 AP Exams

The state of Arkansas will pay for AP Exams for public and homeschooled students who meet both of the following criteria:

  1. Complete an AP course taught by a teacher who meets Arkansas AP training requirements or is on an Additional Training Plan; and
  2. Take the corresponding AP Exam.

For more information on the state rules, visit Arkansas Rules Governing Grading and Course Credit.

Due to the level of state funding, schools are expected to forgo their $9 administrative rebate. The state will not cover any late fees or fees for unused exams.

For qualifying low-income students, College Board provides a fee reduction of $37 per AP Exam, including AP Seminar and AP Research Exams. For eligibility criteria, visit AP Exam Fee Reductions.

Steps for AP Coordinators

Before the Exams

  • For your invoice to accurately reflect any fee reductions, the AP coordinator must indicate the fee reduction status for each eligible student in AP Registration and Ordering.
    • For each student who is eligible for the College Board fee reduction, check the Reduced Fee box next to their name in the student roster.
    • For students who aren't eligible for the fee reduction, no action is needed.
  • Fee reduction status is indicated only once per student, not for each exam.
  • If possible, indicate each student’s status by the time you submit your exam order. This ensures you have time to plan for and collect the appropriate exam fees.
    • However, if you need more time to verify this information, the deadline to indicate students' fee reduction status in AP Registration and Ordering is April 30, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET).

State of Arkansas Requirements

  • Arkansas students will only receive the state subsidies for their AP Exams if they are enrolled in a class section in AP Registration and Ordering and complete the AP course with an appropriately trained teacher.
    • Public, homeschooled, or virtual school students who aren’t enrolled in a class section in AP Registration and Ordering won’t have the Arkansas state subsidies applied for their exams.
    • This means that the physical school where any unenrolled students take their exams will be charged, rather than the state.
  • Homeschooled students and students taking AP courses through a virtual provider, such as Virtual Arkansas, must be enrolled in AP Registration and Ordering within both the exam only section at the school where they’ll take the exam and a class section for the corresponding course through their virtual provider.

After the Exams

  • Your invoice is automatically generated in AP Registration and Ordering and emailed to you after the late-testing administration ends. At that point, you can also access and print your invoice through AP Registration and Ordering.
  • College Board will bill the state directly for its share of the qualifying students' AP Exam fees in each category.
  • Send payment to College Board for any AP Exams taken by students who were not enrolled in or did not complete the corresponding AP course or any additional fees due.
  • June 15, 2025, is the postmark deadline for any payment owed to College Board.
  • You must provide a copy of your school's invoice to the Arkansas Department of Education by June 15, 2025.
    • Send a copy of your school's invoice to Krystal Nail, Program Director, Arkansas Department of Education by email at: [email protected] or by mail at: Krystal Nail, Program Director, Arkansas Department of Education, Four Capitol Mall, Slot 28, Little Rock, AR 72201.
    • Even if your invoice shows a zero balance, you must submit a copy of your invoice to the Arkansas Department of Education to have your state funding properly credited.
