Arkansas AP Exam Fee Assistance
Funding for Arkansas Schools for May 2026 AP Exams
The state of Arkansas will pay for AP Exams for public and public charter students who meet both of the following criteria:
- Complete an AP course; and
- Take the corresponding AP Exam.
Homeschooled students may utilize Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs) to pay AP Exam fees. Additional details are below.
Due to the level of state funding, schools are expected to forgo their $9 administrative rebate. The state will not cover any late fees or fees for unused exams.
For qualifying low-income students, College Board provides a fee reduction of $37 per AP Exam. For eligibility criteria, visit AP Exam Fee Reductions.

Steps for AP Coordinators
Before the Exams
- For your invoice to accurately reflect any fee reductions, the AP coordinator must indicate the fee reduction status for each eligible student in AP Registration and Ordering.
- For each student who is eligible for the College Board fee reduction, check the Reduced Fee box next to their name in the student roster.
- For students who aren't eligible for the fee reduction, no action is needed.
- Fee reduction status is indicated only once per student, not for each exam.
- If possible, indicate each student’s status by the time you submit your exam order. This ensures you have time to plan for and collect the appropriate exam fees.
- However, if you need more time to verify this information, the deadline to indicate students' fee reduction status in AP Registration and Ordering is April 30, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET).
State of Arkansas Requirements
- Arkansas students will only receive the state subsidies for their AP Exams if they are enrolled in a class section in AP Registration and Ordering and complete the corresponding AP course.
- Public, public charter, or virtual school students who aren’t enrolled in a class section in AP Registration and Ordering won’t have the Arkansas state subsidies applied for their exams.
- This means that the physical school where any unenrolled students take their exams will be charged, rather than the state.
- Public, public charter, or virtual school students who aren’t enrolled in a class section in AP Registration and Ordering won’t have the Arkansas state subsidies applied for their exams.
- Students taking AP courses through a virtual provider, such as Virtual Arkansas, must be enrolled in AP Registration and Ordering within both the exam only section at the school where they’ll take the exam and a class section for the corresponding course through their virtual provider.
- Virtual providers must ensure that AP teachers enroll all their students in AP Registration and Ordering.
- If a virtual student enrolled in a class section is no longer taking the AP course, the student must be dropped from the class section. For more information on dropping or moving students from a class section, please refer to page 72 of the AP Coordinator's Manual, Part 1.
- For more information on enrolling virtual students, visit Ordering AP Exams for Students Who Don’t Attend Your School or Independent Study Students or see pages 36-38 of the AP Coordinator's Manual, Part 1.
- Homeschooled students taking AP Exams may be invoiced by the school administering the exams. Homeschooled students may submit through ClassWallet to be reimbursed through Educational Freedom Accounts to pay for AP Exams.
- Homeschooled students should be excluded from the state subsidy within AP Registration and Ordering.
- For students eligible for fee reductions, check the box for Reduced Fee next to their name in the student roster. Then, click each homeschooled student’s name and check the box in the upper right corner to Exclude all from Subsidies. This will ensure that these students get the College Board fee reduction but won’t be included in the state subsidy.
- For homeschooled students not eligible for fee reductions, in the class roster, click each homeschooled student’s name and check the box in the upper right corner to Exclude all from Subsidies.
- Homeschooled students should be excluded from the state subsidy within AP Registration and Ordering.
After the Exams
- Your invoice is automatically generated in AP Registration and Ordering and emailed to you after the late-testing administration ends. At that point, you can also access and print your invoice through AP Registration and Ordering.
- College Board will bill the state directly for its share of the qualifying students' AP Exam fees.
- Send payment to College Board for any AP Exams taken by homeschooled students and students who were not enrolled in or did not complete the corresponding AP course or any additional fees due.
- June 15, 2026, is the postmark deadline for any payment owed to College Board.
- Schools are no longer required to provide a copy of their AP Exam invoice to the Arkansas Department of Education.
