Connecticut AP Exam Fee Assistance

Learn more about the AP Exam fee structure and what assistance is available for Connecticut schools and students for the 2026 AP Exams.

Payments are due to College Board by June 15. Payments must be postmarked by this date to be considered on time. Schools determine how and when to collect and track exam payment.

Funding for Connecticut Schools for May 2026 AP Exams

For qualifying low-income students, College Board provides a fee reduction of $37 per AP Exam, including AP Seminar and AP Research Exams. For eligibility criteria, visit AP Exam Fee Reductions.

If a student qualifies for College Board’s fee reduction, the State of Connecticut will pay $53 for AP Exams. In combination, this brings the total costs for low-income students down to $0. However, schools are expected to forgo their $9 rebate for these students.

Note: It remains a school-level decision whether to keep or forgo the $9 per exam school rebate from standard-fee students. For more information on rebate policy and procedures, please see State AP Exam Fee Assistance.

Steps for AP Coordinators

Before the Exams

  • For your invoice to accurately reflect any fee reductions, the AP coordinator must indicate the fee reduction status for each eligible student in AP Registration and Ordering.
    • For each student who is eligible for the College Board fee reduction, check the Reduced Fee box next to their name in the student roster.
    • For students who aren't eligible for the fee reduction, no action is needed.
  • Fee reduction status is indicated only once per student, not for each exam.
  • Districts implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) shouldn’t report all students as being from low-income families. Schools should use district data for free or reduced-price meal eligibility in Public School Information System (PSIS) to determine if a student should be indicated as “low-income” on the AP invoice. Remember, student information in PSIS is about eligibility for free and reduced-price lunch, not participation.
    • Since the AP, PSAT, and SAT are considered part of a Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) State Educational Program, the AP, PSAT, and SAT coordinator can be given access to a student’s income eligibility status.
    • To request access, the coordinator must complete the Disclosure Release form to ensure that they understand USDA regulations and don’t use this information for other purposes.
  • Please note that once the AP, PSAT, or SAT coordinator completes the Disclosure Release Request for Free or Reduced Eligibility Status of Students in the School Nutrition Program form and it’s reviewed and approved by the district or school’s determining official (the person that processes the free and reduced-price meal applications), they can access the free, reduced, and paid information directly via the CSDE’s PSIS without having the determining official provide them with a list of children who are eligible for free and reduced-price meals.
  • If possible, indicate each student’s status by the time you submit your exam order. This ensures you have time to plan for and collect the appropriate exam fees.
    • However, if you need more time to verify this information, the deadline to indicate students' fee reduction status in AP Registration and Ordering is April 30, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET).

After the Exams

  • Your invoice will be automatically generated and emailed to you after late-testing administration ends. At that point, you can also access and print your invoice through AP Registration and Ordering.
  • June 15, 2026, is the postmark deadline for payment due to College Board.
