Idaho AP Exam Fee Assistance

Learn more about the AP Exam fee structure and what assistance is available for Idaho schools and students for the 2026 AP Exams.

Payments are due to College Board by June 15. Payments must be postmarked by this date to be considered on time. Schools determine how and when to collect and track exam payment.

Funding for Idaho Schools for May 2026 AP Exams

The state of Idaho will reimburse school districts for 2026 AP Exams via the state’s Advanced Opportunities program. Idaho students can use Advanced Opportunities funding to pay for a variety of college-credit eligible exams, including AP Exams. For more information, visit the Idaho State Department of Education’s Advanced Opportunities website.

Please note that “fee-reduced students” are those who qualify for the College Board fee reduction of $37 per exam. “Standard-fee students” don’t qualify for the College Board fee reduction. For eligibility criteria, visit AP Exam Fee Reductions.

It remains a school-level decision whether to keep or forgo the $9 per exam school rebate from standard-fee students. For more information on rebate policy and procedures, please see State AP Exam Fee Assistance.

Steps for AP Coordinators

Before the Exams

State of Idaho Steps

  • Enter a request in the Advanced Opportunities portal for each student who will use Advanced Opportunities funding to pay for exam fees.
    • For full-year courses, the State of Idaho prefers that requests are made during the spring semester, within the January/February access window.
    • For semester-long courses, the State of Idaho prefers that requests are made during the semester that the student plans to take the course.
  • For fee-reduced students, enter and edit the request amount to reflect the reduced amount of $53 per AP Exam.
  • For standard-fee students, enter the request for the full exam fee of $99 per AP Exam.
  • Schools won’t receive invoices from College Board until the end of May 2026, around the time spring reimbursements are issued by Advanced Opportunities.

College Board Steps

  • For your invoice to accurately reflect fee reductions, the AP coordinator must indicate the fee reduction status for each eligible student in AP Registration and Ordering.
    • For each student who is eligible for the College Board fee reduction, check the Reduced Fee box next to their name in the student roster.
    • For students who aren't eligible for the fee reduction, no action is needed.
  • Fee reduction status is indicated only once per student, not for each exam.
  • If possible, indicate each student’s status by the time you submit your exam order. This ensures you have time to plan for and collect the appropriate exam fees.
  • However, if you need more time to verify this information, the deadline to indicate students' fee reduction status in AP Registration and Ordering is April 30, 2026 (11:59 p.m. ET).

After the Exams

  • Your invoice will be automatically generated and emailed to you after late-testing administration ends. At that point, you can also access and print your invoice through AP Registration and Ordering.
  • June 15, 2026, is the postmark deadline for payment due to College Board.
