College Board launched an official Pre-AP Program in fall 2018. We developed Pre-AP because we believe all students deserve engaging and relevant grade-level coursework that motivates them to reach their full potential and access greater opportunities.

Here’s how the Pre-AP Program is designed to accomplish that.

  • Engaging instructional resources meet students where they are.
  • Learning checkpoints show teachers where each student needs additional support and focus.
  • Effective practice helps every student to build, strengthen, and master content knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility in instructional resources honors the skill and authority of teachers.
  • Challenging coursework emphasizes key literacy, quantitative, and analysis skills across all 5 disciplines and reinforces these skills in multiple classroom experiences.
  • Open access—a program requirement—means that Pre-AP courses and their high-quality instruction and assessments will serve all students.

Pre-AP is a set of courses in five disciplines: English, mathematics, sciences, social studies and history, and visual and performing arts.

Pre-AP Readiness Workshops for Schools and Districts

Pre-AP Readiness Workshops are collaborative professional learning opportunities created to orient participants to the content, design, and pedagogy of the Pre-AP Program. These workshops are perfect for schools interested in Pre-AP but not quite ready to implement the full program. Designed exclusively for content educators in grades 6–12, these workshops actively engage educators in an exploration of Pre-AP content-specific topics. Participants will gain insightful application strategies to apply what they’ve learned to their own classrooms.

College Board’s SpringBoard Program, a comprehensive ELA and math curriculum for grades 6–12, is designed to prepare all students for success in high school and beyond.

Developed by teachers for teachers, SpringBoard offers research-based, classroom-tested curriculum and core instructional materials in print and digital that are fully aligned to state standards. The program features student materials, teacher resources, and formative and summative assessments, as well as professional learning for teachers and administrators.
