We encourage every AP student to register for 2021 AP Exams by the exam ordering deadline—we’ll waive the unused/canceled exam fee for any student who later decides not to test. Exams ordered after November 13, 2020, for full-year and first-semester courses and exam only sections, are subject to the late order fee.

Ordering Deadline for Spring Courses and to Change Fall Exam Orders
This is the exam ordering deadline for AP courses that begin after November 13 as well as the deadline to make changes to fall orders in AP Registration and Ordering.
Even though the unused/canceled exam fee won’t be applied this year, schools are still encouraged to submit known cancellations by this date.
2020-21 AP Exam Fees
The base exam fee is increasing by $1 for the 2021 AP Exams. The base exam fees are:
- $95 per exam at schools in the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada, and DoDEA schools
- $125 per exam at schools outside the U.S., U.S. territories, and Canada, with the exception of DoDEA schools (Fees may vary for exams at College Board–authorized test centers outside the U.S.)
- $143 per exam for AP Capstone™ (AP Seminar or AP Research)
The College Board fee reduction amount is increasing to $33 per exam for eligible students.
The late-order and late-testing fees aren’t changing. Those amounts remain $40 per exam.
Unused/Canceled Exam Fee Won’t Be Applied in 2020-21
In 2020-21 only, the unused/canceled exam fee won't be applied for any student who later decides not to take an exam that was ordered for them.
See Exam Fees for details.
Late Order Fee Waived for Homeschooled Students
Due to ongoing social distancing guidelines this year, homeschooled students may need more time to find a school where they’ll be able to take AP Exams. This year, the AP Program will waive the late order fee for homeschooled students who are added to your exam order after November 13. You’ll need to call AP Services for Educators to request that the late order fee be waived for a homeschooled student added to your order after November 13. Homeschooled students must be included in your exam order by the March 12 spring course orders and fall order changes deadline.
New AP Daily videos are available in AP Classroom for every topic and skill in every unit. These videos can be used in person, online, and in blended learning environments. Students can watch them on their own or be assigned by their teachers. Learn more.
AP Terms and Conditions
Students must agree to the AP Terms and Conditions prior to taking any AP Exam. College Board will notify AP coordinators and students when these terms are available online. Once available, AP coordinators must ensure that students are directed to review these Terms and Conditions thoroughly in advance of taking an AP Exam.
AP Art and Design
In 2020-21, students will submit their work entirely online through the AP Art and Design digital submission web application. There will be no physical portfolios for AP Art and Design this year. Learn more about the AP Art and Design portfolio requirements.
AP Chinese and AP Japanese Language and Culture
In 2021, AP Chinese and AP Japanese Language and Culture Exams will be administered on a new online platform that can be accessed on PCs, Macs, or Chromebooks. CDs will no longer be used for these exams. Details will be provided later in the fall. There are no changes to the way these exams are ordered—include exam orders for these subjects in your school’s order by November 13.
