About the AP Digital Portfolio

Students submit work through the AP Digital Portfolio to receive an exam score for:

• AP Art and Design (AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, and AP Drawing)
• AP Capstone Diploma™ program (AP Seminar and AP Research)
• AP Computer Science Principles

Teachers use the AP Digital Portfolio to complete certain tasks and to score student work for:

• AP African American Studies
• AP Capstone™ Diploma program (AP Seminar and AP Research)
• AP Latin

Coordinators use the AP Digital Portfolio to:

• Monitor the progress of students’ submissions of performance task components
• Print the Personalized Project Reference sheet for each student in advance of the AP Computer Science Principles Exam and AP world language and culture exams

Course-Specific Information

AP African American Studies

AP African American Studies teachers use the AP Digital Portfolio to enter scores for the Presentation and Oral Defense component of their students’ individual project scores.

AP Art and Design

AP Art and Design students submit their portfolio components through the AP Digital Portfolio. They don’t mail physical work to the AP Program.

Students are responsible for submitting their work. We recommend setting an in-class deadline, so teachers have enough time to review student work before the final submission date.

AP Capstone Diploma Program

AP Capstone™ students use the AP Digital Portfolio to submit the following performance task components:

• AP Seminar: Individual Research Report and Individual Written Argument
• AP Research: Academic Paper

AP Capstone teachers use the AP Digital Portfolio to complete checkpoint affirmations and submit scores for the following performance task components:

• AP Seminar: Team Multimedia Presentation and Defense; Individual Multimedia Presentation and Oral Defense
• AP Research: Presentation and Oral Defense

AP Computer Science Principles

AP Computer Science Principles students use the AP Digital Portfolio to submit their three Create performance task components: Program Code, Video, and Personalized Project Reference.

Students are responsible for submitting their work, including their Personalized Project Reference.  

We recommend setting an in-class deadline, so teachers have enough time to review student work before the final submission date.

AP coordinators will need to download and print each student’s Personalized Project Reference before exam day for students to reference while completing their exam.

AP Latin

AP Latin teachers enter students’ scores into the AP Digital Portfolio for the two in-class checkpoints that are part of the Course Project. In addition, teachers access the course prompts through the AP Digital Portfolio.

Students can also use the AP Digital Portfolio to access the Course Project passages. 

New for 2026-27: AP World Languages and Cultures 

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the six AP world language and culture exams (AP Chinese, AP French, AP German, AP Italian, AP Japanese, and AP Spanish Language and Culture) include a new project component in which students complete research during the year.

The project prompt and source materials are released in January via the AP Digital Portfolio. Students work on their projects from January through April and submit a Personalized Project Reference through the AP Digital Portfolio.

AP coordinators will need to download and print each student’s Personalized Project Reference before exam day for students to reference while completing the Project Presentation free-response question of the exam.
