AP United States History: Chat with a Content Expert
We’re set up to help! Schools can schedule both one-to-one and group Zoom chats with a content expert about offering AP U.S. History.
Whether you’re considering AP U.S. History, have committed to offering it and want practical advice on getting started, or have questions about what the course offers your students and how it supports your school’s goals, our content experts can help.
You can schedule a one-to-one Zoom chat for your own questions, or a group chat to bring teachers and school leaders into the same conversation, so everyone hears the same answers. There’s no charge and no commitment to decide anything.
You can ask the experts:
- What your school or district should consider before adopting AP U.S. History, including how the course aligns with your state’s standards
- How the course fits in your history sequence, and which grade level should take it
- What teachers should do to prepare to teach AP U.S. History, and what resources are available to support a successful course launch
- How the historical thinking skills and 8 course themes are structured across 9 periods from 1491 through the 20th century
- How the 9 periods are paced against each period’s exam weighting
- What instructional shifts matter most when moving from a traditional or honors U.S. history section to AP U.S. History, and how to support students who are new to advanced coursework
- What the AP U.S. History Exam assesses, including the short-answer, document-based, and long essay questions, and how to align instruction and formative assessments to it
