AP Cybersecurity Exam Overview

The AP Cybersecurity Exam will be a fully digital exam in Bluebook that will be administered in May 2027. Students with qualifying exam scores will earn:

• College credit and placement
• AP Cybersecurity Credential 

About the Exam  

The AP Cybersecurity Exam will assess essential technical skills in the cybersecurity field. The exam will put students in the position of an analyst, leveraging career-connected scenarios to test their skills and ability to make evidence-based, contextually aware decisions.  

The digital exam will be divided into two sections:   

• Multiple Choice: The questions connect to realistic job scenarios and test both knowledge and application. 
• Free Response: The questions use realistic cybersecurity artifacts and evidence for students to analyze and provide responses.  

Stimuli that students may evaluate include, but are not limited to, scenarios, lists of constraints or requirements, network diagrams, command line interfaces, packet captures, tables, and file directories.
