FAQ

What are the policies for late order and unused/canceled exam fees?

FeeDescription
Late order fee
Additional fee applied to each exam ordered after the November ordering deadline and by the March spring orders deadline.
$40 per exam (in addition to base exam fee)
(Note: This fee won’t apply to exams for courses that start after the November exam ordering deadline—for example, second-semester or spring block courses—and exams for students who transfer to your school.)
Unused/canceled exam fee

$40 per exam for:

  • Exams canceled in AP Registration and Ordering after the November ordering deadline and by the March spring orders deadline.
  • Exams that aren't taken and are indicated as unused in AP Registration and Ordering before the school's invoice is generated. (Invoices are generated after late testing ends.)
  • The original exam fee is removed from the invoice.

New for 2026-27: Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the AP Program will waive unused/canceled exam fees for a new AP course in the year the AP Program launches it. No action is required from AP coordinators. In subsequent years, unused/canceled exam fees will apply. For 2026-27, this waiver applies to AP Business with Personal Finance and AP Cybersecurity.

Note: There are some scenarios for which fees don’t apply. See the AP Coordinator’s Manual, Part 1 for details.
