Requesting Accommodations for AP Exams

Review the accommodations available for AP Exams and how to request them.

This is a summary. For complete details, refer to the AP Coordinator’s Manual, Part 1 (.pdf).

Requesting Accommodations

Most students work with the school's SSD coordinator to apply for accommodations before the AP Exam administration. The SSD coordinator requests and manages the accommodations through SSD online.

All requests for accommodations for this year's AP Exams and, when required, complete documentation must be submitted by the SSD coordinator through SSD Online by January 16, 2026

Requesting Temporary Supports

SSD coordinators can request temporary supports (e.g., for a student with a broken arm) in SSD Online in the same way that other accommodations and supports are requested.

From the SSD dashboard, coordinators will select New Request, and then select Request Temporary Impairment Support. Documentation can be uploaded through SSD Online, and the students will appear on your school’s SSD Online dashboard.

Note: For AP Exams the deadline for submitting requests for temporary assistance is 14 days before the scheduled AP Exam date. Submit requests as early as possible. If a student’s approved temporary support requires special format exams or special materials, update your exam order in AP Registration and Ordering.

Ordering AP Exams for Students with Accommodations

At the beginning of the school year, the AP coordinator should work with their school's SSD coordinator to identify all students with approved or expected accommodations. When the AP coordinator orders AP Exams, they'll need to identify which students may require special AP Exam formats or materials.

For more information, go to Ordering AP Exam Materials for Students Testing with Accommodations.
