Workshop Topics
The following topics are addressed in all AP workshops, public, private, or online:
- Course and Exam Description (CED): Discussion of each section of the CED making connections to the curricular requirements
- Course Planning: Development of a semester and/or yearlong instructional plan that incorporates all units, topics and skills of the course, as referenced in the CED
- AP Classroom: Exploration of examples of how AP Classroom can be utilized to cultivate each skill/practice using example student data provided by the College Board and create lesson plans that reinforce topic and skill connections
- Assess and Reflect: Practice interpreting data within the Instructional Planning Report to identify student strengths and weaknesses and reflect on implications for instruction
- Strategies and Pedagogical Tools: Identification and explanation of various instructional strategies and tools, in addition to AP Classroom, that you can incorporate into your lesson plans to teach the content and skills in the course and exam description.
Online Module Descriptions
Module 1: Course and Exam Description and Course Planning
Participate in a 90-minute live Zoom session where an experienced AP educator facilitates a discussion on each section of the course and exam description and make connections to the curricular requirements.
Module 2: AP Classroom
Watch a 45-minute recording led by an experienced AP teacher on how to leverage AP Classroom to help support students and teach your AP course, by using features such as formative assessments, feedback, and AP Daily. Afterward, develop and submit one lesson plan and receive individualized feedback from an experienced AP educator.
Module 3: Assess and Reflect
After watching a 60-minute recording led by an experienced AP teacher on how to score student responses based on the rubric, practice scoring samples on your own and check for understanding.
Module 4: Strategies and Pedagogical Tools
Participate in a 120-minute live Zoom session where an experienced AP educator shares various instructional strategies, tools, and best practices that you can incorporate in your lesson plans to teach your AP course.
