AP Rural Fellows Program

The AP Rural Fellows scholarship provides AP Summer Institute tuition funding for teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The $1,500 scholarship covers APSI tuition. Remaining funds, if the APSI was in-person/on-site and after the APSI has been paid, will be sent to the teacher to be applied toward travel expenses.

Scholarship Criteria

Teachers must:

  • Plan to teach an AP course (excluding AP Seminar and AP Research) in the 2024-25 academic year
  • Teach in a high school that is classified as "rural" by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and at which at least 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch (all islands of Hawaii, except Oahu, will be considered “rural” regardless of the NCES data)
  • Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last 3 years
