FAQ

What’s the difference between a standard AP Summer Institute and the AP PBL Series?

A standard APSI is a four-day professional learning experience focused on course content and instructional strategies. Participants explore the AP course and exam description (CED) and key AP resources, including unit guides, topic questions, progress checks, the AP Question Bank, instructional planning reports, syllabus development guidance, sample syllabi, and the AP Community.

The AP PBL Series begins with a four-day APSI and extends learning throughout the school year with structured online support sessions. The series focuses on implementing project based learning, strengthening instructional practice, and increasing student engagement and access to AP.

Both opportunities offer in-depth exploration of the AP course and exam description (CED) and opportunities to connect with other teachers.

For most AP courses, teachers may choose between a standard AP Summer Institute (APSI) and the AP PBL Series. For AP Business with Personal Finance, summer professional learning is offered only through the AP PBL Series. A standard APSI is not available for this course.
