Online Resources Recommended by AP Teachers

We surveyed AP Latin teachers about what online resources they recommend, and the list below comes directly from their responses. The list also includes teacher descriptions of the resources. This is not a comprehensive list, nor is it an endorsement of any of these resources by the College Board.

Aeneid.co $  

  • Self-directed student practice; instructional videos for students
  • Video reviews, gloss, and note-taking on Vergil’s Aeneid.

Albert.io $  

  • Self-directed student practice
  • Provides extensive amount of multiple-choice and free-response questions in the style of the AP exam.

Dickinson College Commentaries

  • Online text
  • Provides commentaries, explanatory essays, vocabulary, maps, and even musical recordings for all the syllabus readings. The same resources are provided for other authors as well, which is helpful for sight reading. Also includes online copy of Allen and Greenough’s Latin Grammar.

Hexameter  

  • Self-directed student practice
  • Adaptive practice exercises of dactylic hexameter. Uses a variety of authors.

latintutorial

  • Instructional videos for students
  • A collection of videos about Latin grammar and ancient Roman culture.

Project Arkhaia: AP Tiered Readings  

  • Online text
  • Provides tiered readings of the Vergil and Caesar selections of the current AP Latin syllabus. Each section of lines or chapter is rewritten into different levels of difficulty: Tier 2 (easiest) is Novice-Intermediate, Tier 3 is Intermediate, Tier 4 (original Latin) is Advanced.
