  • AP Art and Design (AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, and AP Drawing)
  • AP Capstone (AP Seminar and AP Research)
  • AP Computer Science Principles

Teachers use the AP Digital Portfolio to complete certain tasks and to score student work for:

  • AP African American Studies (pilot)
  • AP Capstone (AP Seminar and AP Research)
  • AP with WE Service

Please review the course-specific information below for details, deadlines, and user guides.

AP African American Studies

In spring 2024, students at pilot schools will take the AP African American Studies Exam, which includes an Individual Student Project. (Students at all participating U.S. schools will take the exam starting in spring 2025.)

AP African American Studies pilot teachers need to upload their students’ project scores to the AP Digital Portfolio between May 1 and May 31, 2024.

May 31, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET is the final deadline for pilot teachers to submit scores. Students without a project score from their teacher after this date will receive a zero for this component of their AP score.

AP Art and Design

AP Art and Design students submit their portfolio components through the AP Digital Portfolio. They do not mail their physical work to the AP Program.

May 10, 2024, 8 p.m. ET is the deadline for students to submit their three AP Art and Design portfolio components (Sustained Investigation Images, Written Evidence, Selected Works) as final to the AP Program for scoring.

Students are responsible for this final step. We recommend teachers set their own deadlines, so that they can review student work before the final submission deadline.

Please review the AP Art and Design Digital Submission Guide for Teachers for step-by-step instructions on accessing and using the AP Digital Portfolio. Information is also available in the AP Digital Portfolio user guides for teachers and students.

AP Capstone

AP Capstone students use the AP Digital Portfolio to submit the following performance task components:

AP Capstone teachers use the AP Digital Portfolio to complete checkpoint attestations and submit scores for the following performance task components:

  • AP Seminar: Team Multimedia Presentation and Defense; Individual Multimedia Presentation and Oral Defense
  • AP Research: Presentation and Oral Defense

May 10, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for AP Capstone teachers to submit scores for student presentations and complete attestations for required checkpoints.

Please review the AP Digital Portfolio user guides for teachers and students for complete details and instructions.

AP Computer Science Principles

AP Computer Science Principles students use the AP Digital Portfolio to submit their three Create performance task components: Program Code, Video, and Personalized Project Reference.

April 30, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for students to submit all three Create performance task components as final. Students need to submit the Personalized Project Reference as final by this deadline to have this resource available to complete the written response prompts on exam day.

Students are responsible for this final step. We recommend teachers set their own deadlines, so that they can review student work before the final submission deadline.

Please review the AP Digital Portfolio user guides for teachers and students for complete details and instructions. Students can also use this tip sheet for creating their Personalized Project Reference.

AP with WE Service

Teachers also use the AP Digital Portfolio to score service projects for students who want to earn the AP with WE Service recognition.

June 30, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET is the deadline for teachers to submit scores in the AP Digital Portfolio for students who have completed their service projects.

Some students’ AP African American Studies, AP Seminar, AP Research, or AP Computer Science Principles projects are also their AP with WE Service projects. In these cases, teachers still need to score the projects independently using the AP with WE Service recognition rubric for students to earn the AP with WE recognition.

Please review the AP Digital Portfolio user guides for teachers and students for complete details and instructions.
