Important Updates

Updates for 2018

  • The Digital Audio Capture (DAC) app is now available as a recording option for AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture Exams, in addition to AP Music Theory Exams. The DAC app can be downloaded and run on iPads.
  • If your school currently uses school-owned and -controlled Chromebooks for high stakes standardized assessments and would like to use them for recording student audio responses for the AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture and Music Theory Exams, you must call AP Services for Educators before March 1, 2018 to confirm if your school’s Chromebook recording application and configuration meet AP Program requirements.

The AP Music Theory Exam and AP French, German, Italian, and Spanish Language and Culture Exams require students to record responses. There are several acceptable recording methods. This table shows the AP Program’s requirements for acceptable recording methods. These are the recording methods approved by the AP Program. Schools must adhere to these criteria to ensure exam security. See the AP Coordinator’s Manual for all policies about audio recording.
