FAQ

How do I return exam materials using the split shipment program?

If you submit an order of 150 or more regularly scheduled exams and are administering exams over both weeks of the AP Exam administration, you’ll be automatically enrolled in and required to use the split shipment program.

With the split shipment program, schools return all their AP Exam materials in two shipments:

  1. The first shipment contains the first week’s AP Exam materials and must be shipped no later than the beginning of the second week of testing.
  2. The second shipment contains the second week’s AP Exam materials and must be shipped by the close of the next business day after the school’s last AP Exam is administered in the regularly scheduled exam administration.

After exam orders are placed, the AP Program will mail coordinators detailed instructions for returning exam materials using the split shipment program. (Schools outside the United States also receive an international return kit.)

Schools required to use split shipment must return the materials following the instructions sent to coordinators to avoid potential score delays.

Coordinators need to complete a packing list for each week’s shipment. See How do I return exam materials?

Due to the high volume of materials being returned, we encourage you to return your week 1 and week 2 exam shipments as soon as you’ve completed administering exams for each week.

See the AP Coordinator’s Manual, Part 2 for details.
